A Simple way to Decorate a Lantern

You see lanterns everywhere and love them, but you're not sure how to incorporate one into your home decor? One thing to keep in mind is the size. Where will you display it? Should it be small to fit on a side table or even your desk. Or a big one that would go on the floor by the wood stove or on your patio?

We invite you to stop by our Ben Franklin Crafts store in Monroe, WA where you'll find lanterns in many sizes, shapes and colors.

We decided to use our big black lantern. We wanted to keep it pretty simple so we used a small ivy swag that we attached to the top of the lantern with a small wire (or chenille stem). Then we chose some buffalo plaid ribbon in black and white. Make a simple bow (how-to video below) and attach it to the top of the greenery. Work the ivy branches through the bow so that it looks like it's part of each other and not sitting on top of each other. To finish it off, we added 3 battery-operated candles inside the lantern. Doesn't it look pretty? We sure think so! Don't be scared of creating your own design.

Come see us if you're looking for ribbon. We carry a huge selection! Of course, we also have the most trendy colors!
