DIY Graduation Money Box Idea

One of our customers was looking for a graduation money box idea that would be inexpensive and easy to make. This was the perfect project for her! This 4" x 4" x 7" unfinished wood box has a magnetic closing door and is ready to decorate. And the good news is that the box is on sale for $5.98 now through June 18, 2017 (reg. $9.99).

- Paint the box black. Keep in mind that we're trying to reproduce a mini graduation gown and cap. We painted the box black. Let it dry completely.

- Cut a 4" x 4" square out of black cardstock and punch a hole in the middle. Cut a strip of black paper long enough to make a circle 5" diameter and about 1.25" wide. Glue ends together.

- Put some glue on one edge of the circle and glue to the square cardstock. Let dry.

- Cut a piece of ribbon that will match your school colors. Use E2000 glue to tack it to the top of the box and make it hang on the side. Cut a piece of gold rope and glue it on top of the ribbon. Glue the "cap" to the box.

- The mini tassel was made using embroidery floss.  Here's a tutorial on how to make a tassel via @WhatsUpMoms. Attach your tassel inside the hole of the cap with a drop of glue. That's it! It's ready to display at your graduation party! Or fill it with rolled dollar bills and give as a gift to your proud graduate!
