How to: Jewelry Box using Graphic45 Bird Song Collection

We LOVE everything Graphic45. Seriously. The first time we saw their booth at CHA years ago is was meant to be. Have you seen their paper collection, Bird Song? Lovely!

Bonnie crafted this sweet jewelry box using paper from the collection and Kaiser Craft Tower Storage kit. Read the full post for the tutorial.

Supplies
  • Kaiser Craft Tower Storage Kit
  • Scrapbook paper of your choice. We used: Endless Spring, Pearls of Wisdom and Good Fortune all from the Bird Song collection from Graphic45.
  • 6 - 3/8" to 1/2"round wood beads for drawer knobs
  • 4 - 1 inch round wood beads for feet
  • 6 - Chain Tassels
  • Paper Trimmer, Straight-Edge and X-Acto knife or Scissors
  • Paint brush
  • Acrylic Paint - we used black
  • Mod Podge - Satin, Matte or Gloss
  • Fast Grab Tacky Glue - or glue of choice
  • Optional: rubber bands, ruler or tape measure
  •
Kaiser Craft Tower Storage
Instructions
  1. Assemble the tower storage unit according to the packaged directions.
  2. Fold and glue the drawers together and let dry. We used rubber bands to hold the drawers together as they dried.
  3. Paint the tower, drawers, knobs and feet and let dry.
  4. Now the fun part! Select your paper for the surfaces of the tower and trim to fit.An easy way to skip the measuring part is to lay your paper over the section you wan to cover. Line the paper up the way you prefer and run the pad of your finger along the edges of the wood underneath creasing the paper as you go. Use a paper trimmer or a blade and straight-edge to trim.
  5. Adhere your paper pieces to the tower and drawers using Mod Podge. Coast the surface with Mod Podge and lay your paper on top. Top with another coat. Let dry.
  6. Attach a chain tassel to each of the small drawer knob. When dry, glue to fronts of drawers.
  7. Glue feet to bottom of tower.

  2. I borrowed a pattern from somewhere and used Stampin' Up's Matchbox die to create a small one. Very labor intensive, but looks quite like this one only smaller. Think I'd love to try it on a firm base like this one for less frustration!
