17" x 17" Unfinished Wood Slatboard

There are two ways you can paint this with chalkboard paint: you can either use Krylon's Chalkboard paint to spray it on (which is faster) or use a foam brush to apply Americana Chalkboard Paint by DecoArt.

After you apply the chalkboard paint, let it dry for 24 hours.

Now, the important part...you must cure your chalkboard surface before using it. Take white chalk and rub it over the entire chalkboard surface first horizontally, then vertically. Then, take a soft dry cloth to wipe it down.

Apply the vinyl lettering. If you do not have access to the vinyl lettering shown in this tutorial, you can use chalk to write out the saying and numbers; or if you have a Cricut or Silhouette Machine, you can custom create your own vinyl to apply. Also, keep in mind that you can come in to use our Die Cut Machines to create letters, numbers and shapes! Learn more HERE.

Feel free to add embellishments. Once done, it's ready to display!
