DIY Merry Christmas Wood Star Project

For those of you who prefer to stick to simple crafts for the holiday season since you're already so busy with other preparations, this would be a great Christmas decoration that you could make in no time.

You can paint (or stain) the unfinished wood star, or not. It's up to you. Not painting it will give it a more natural look. By the way, the star measures 13" x 13". We decided to paint it with a white wash. Simply dilute your white acrylic paint with a little bit of water to create an ink consistency. Brush on your diluted paint like you would any other paint. Let dry.

Pick a Christmas paper that you like and trace the star on it. You'll have to cut it about 1/4"-1/2" smaller to make it fit inside. Use Mod Podge to glue the paper inside and apply a top coat of Mod Podge to protect and seal the paper. Let dry completely.

Attach the "Merry Christmas" banner so it hangs in front of the star. (you can staple the string ends to the back to hold it in place or use thumbtacks). If you plan on moving the star, you can choose to glue the ornaments in place with hot glue to keep them from moving. We glued a mini cardinal to the top to add a touch of life to our project!
