DIY GIVE THANKS Wood Tag Door Decoration

Like many people you may not have a lot of time to make your own decorations for every holiday, but we have come up with an easy decorations that you can make under an hour. You will impress everyone that come through your front door. This could also be displayed anywhere in your house or office.

Our unfinished over-sized 18" wooden tag is an easy surface to work with. Simply paint it with any color of your choice. You may want to distress the edges like we did here. Simply water down the paint to an inky consistency (about 1 part paint to 3 parts water). Colors like rust and burnt umber work great on light colors. Brush light coats on the edges starting from the outside edge. You'll have to experiment with it to see how much you'll need. Here's a good website where they talk about all the different techniques for accomplishing a distressed/aged look: www.favecrafts.com. Make sure to let the tag dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Now it's time to apply the self-adhesive vinyl words "Give Thanks". Keep in mind that we can custom cut any word or shape that you'd like. Learn more here. Simply peel and stick the words to your dry surface.

To finish it off, all you have to do is glue a bow at the top. If you're not sure how to make a bow, check out this video that Amanda made, it should help you out. Once that's in place, glue a floral pick of berries in the center of your bow. We tucked the stem inside the bow and glued in place.
