DIY Checkers and Checkered Board Frame

By making your own checkers and checkered board game, it opens the door to many possibilities! Imaging all the different checkers you can have! By using simple magnets and adhering pictures on it like we did in this project, you could make 1 set of checkers for each member of the family! It would also make a great gift idea!

To make this checkered board frame, we used a 12" x 12" ready-made frame. We have many options to choose from.

Adhere a 12" x 12" piece of paper (we used the BoBunny Checkered Paper) to a 12" x 12" sheet of metal using Mod Podge as the glue. Add another coat of Mod Podge to the top of the paper to seal it. Let it dry completely. Once dry, simply place inside the frame.

To make the checkers, you need to get some round magnets. Choose the size that will fit inside your squares. You can use the magnet to trace around your picture (which you will have printed several times on one page). Cut 12 pictures. Use Mod Podge to adhere the pictures on the magnet. Apply a coat of Mod Podge on top of the picture to seal it. Let everything dry completely.

Your new checkered board game is now ready to use! Keep in mind that all the supplies used in this project are available at our Ben Franklin Crafts store in Monroe, WA (while supplies last).
