DIY Gifts for Mom

Mother's Day is right around the corner (Sun. May 10, 2015), but there's still time to make a hand-crafted gift. Here are some simple but adorable craft ideas. Supplies, and guidance from our expert designers, available at our Ben Franklin Crafts store in Monroe, WA.

This easy-to-make plaque says it all... HOME IS WHERE MOM IS. All you'll need to make this is the unfinished Washington State Plaque, some paint, and the "HOME IS..." self-adhesive vinyl.

Make a unique HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER for MOM!
• Choose a bottle.
• Add wire or jute to hang.
• Decorate with beads, glass tiles or seashells.
• Add the feeding tube (fits in most bottle openings).

Have you seen these NEW "HANGING VASES"? They're 6" tall and have a hole in the back for hanging. Attach to a plaque like we did here, or it would be pretty in a window with a colorful flower stem! Make this plaque using a 12"x12" unfinished plaque. Paint the borders. Use Mod Podge to glue a 12"x12" sheet of decorative paper. Let dry. Attach your vase!
